MBA Programs

The Kellog School of Management at Northwestern is located in Chicago, Illinois. There are three full time programs offered to students seeking to obtain an MBA. These programs include the traditional two year program, a fast paced one year program, and a master of management and manufacturing program that is operation in conjunction with Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering. Kellog also offer part time programs aimed at the full time employed Chicago resident as well as an executive MBA program aimed at corporate executives who wish to further their education. Kellog also offers four international executive MBA programs. Both the executive and international programs meet during weekends in order to prevent interference in a professional’s career.

Courses

Kellog requires that students complete a minimum of 24.5 course units in order to obtain an MBA. Core classes that make up nine of the required 24.5 units include Accounting for Decision Making, Mathematical Methods For Management Decisions, Statistical Methods for Management Decisions, Business Strategy, Strategies for Leading & Managing Organizations, Finance I, Microeconomic Analysis, Marketing Management, Operations Management, and Values & Crisis Decision Making.

Student Life

There are approximately 70 clubs at Kellog that allow students to broaden their horizons and engage in various learning experiences. Kellog is responsive to the minority community by providing minority students with such clubs and organizations as the Black Management Association (BMA), the Hispanic Business Students Association (HBSA), and Latin American, Hispanic, Iberian Management Association (HIMA). With an increasing number of women becoming high level business professionals, Kellog has adapted to the changing times and welcomes women onto its campus. The 2004 class of two year MBA students was 29 percent women and the school offers a Women’s Business Association.

Application

Prospective students must provide the scores of their GMAT tests as well as a job performance evaluation from their former or current employer. A resume is required along with transcripts from all other universities and colleges attended. Essays are also required and are subject to the honor code. There is a $210 application fee and all off-campus interviews are requested by submitting part one of the Kellog application.
